EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATOR
Mixed media illustrator from El Salvador. Raised during the 11 year Civil War in my country, and was impacted by all the different social and political movements in my surroundings... can a little girl absorb and understand these events?
oh yes!
My family was held hostage by the guerilla leaders and my house became an operation center when they took the city. From that moment I built up a need to say something and gradually discovered that it was through pictures.
This is how my journey as an artist started and had to seek for education in a foreign land as the local art institutions were bombarded during the war. As a result, I graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design majoring in Illustration and minoring in Experimental Photography.
Later on, life moved me to Japan were I was able to expand my techniques and explore with different mediums and textures while exploring different concepts that commented on social and political issues. This exploration took me to different places and I was able to exhibit in Japan, Europe and Central America.
I love my country, so I moved back, to contribute to the creation of a local artistic community and at the same time, to give life and a voice to issues that need to be expressed and talked about.
